In an effort to inform Pennsylvania’s citizens about the prevention and treatment of low vision and blindness, the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind and its 26 Member agencies are joining together to celebrate the White Cane as a symbol of a blind or visually impaired person’s ability to achieve a full and independent life.
The Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, as a statewide organization, will be holding regional events throughout the State on October 15, 2013.
“Our focus at these events will be to educate people about vision loss and to showcase the talents and abilities of people who are blind or vision impaired. Additionally, we hope to reach people who are experiencing vision loss so they will know how to access the resources that will enable them to acquire the skills, tools, and services necessary to maintain an autonomous lifestyle,” says Elaine Welch, President/CEO of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.
The Pennsylvania Association for the Blind is excited about the collaboration of blind organizations across the state in an effort to build better, and more open communities that embrace blind and visually impaired individuals throughout the Commonwealth.
